Colonel Jacob Lansing Jr. was a revolutionary officer and commanded a regiment at Stillwater in the Burgoyne campaign, and as captain was in the fort at Scholarie, New York, when attacked by Sir John Johnson and Indians under Brandt.

1775 Election of Deputies to the Provincial Congress from Albany County Whereas, at a meeting of committees of the several Districts in the county of Albany, held in the city of Albany on the 10th of May, 1775, the following persons, ... (including Lewis Morris and Frederick Van Cortlandt) were appointed to Represent the said city and county in Provincial Congress on the Twenty Second day of May instant, in the city of New York, with such Deputies as are or may be appointed from the other counties in this colony to consult of, Determine on, and transact all such matters as shall be then and there agitated for the good of the colony in general, and this county in particular. Abstracts of Wills, Vol VI, 1760-1766 Page 210.--In the name of God, Amen. I, JACOB VISHER, of Albany, being of sound mind. All debts to be paid. I leave to Gertrude Swits, daughter of Major Isaac Swits, the house and lot where I now live, "and she is to keep and maintain my negro wench, 'Deijaen,' with food and clothing, and allow her to store her clothing in the garret during her life, and to live in the back kitchen and sleep in the cellar." I leave to Gerritt Van Vrankie, carpenter, of Albany, œ100. Of all the rest of my real and personal estate I leave 1/3 to the heirs of my sister, Hester Swits, viz., Isaac, Susanah, wife of Cornelius Van Ness, and Anna, wife of Hendrick Beekman; 1/6 to the children of Egbert B. Egbertse; 1/6 to Polly, wife of Jacob J. Lansing, and 1/3 to Gertrude, wife of Martin Beekman. My negro man and woman are to be free, and my executors are to give security that they shall not be a burden upon any town, according to Act passed October 29, 1730. I make Isaac Swits, Jacob J. Lansing, and John Beekman executors, and I give to each of them œ50 for their trouble. Dated November 10, 1762. Witnesses, Peter W. Yates, Abraham Yates, Jr., Isaac Van Arnam.
