ADRIAN, MICHIGAN, October 19, 2008, Sister Mary T. Meegan, formerly known
as Sister John Maureen Meegan, died on October 19, 2008, at the Dominican
Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. She was 83 years of age and in the 63rd
year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
Sister Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Mary (Martin) Meegan. sister graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian, Michigan, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, Michigan; a Master of Arts Degree in Mathematics from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida; a Master of Arts Degree in Theology, and a Doctor of Ministry in Spirituality from Aquinas Theological Institute in Dubuque, Iowa. Sister spent 41 years ministering in education in West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, and Ft. Pierce, Florida; Chicago, Elgin, Wilmette, Oak Park and Joliet, Illinois. She taught at three Congregation schools; Aquinas High School in Chicago, Illinois, for seven years, Regina High School in Wilmette, Illinois, for six years, and Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, for one year. She was Assistant Principal for two years at St. Anastasia High School in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Sister was Vicar for Religious for eleven years and Spiritual Formation Director for five years for the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2008. Sister Mary is survived by a sister, Margaret Reilly of Westmont, Illinois. She was preceded in death by two cousins, Sister Florence Therese McKernin, OP, and Sister Alice Patricia Hagan, OP, both Adrian Dominican Sisters. Visitation is from 6:15 to 7:00pm in the Rose Room of the Dominican Life Center on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, followed by Vigil Prayer at 7:00pm in St. Catherine Chapel. The Funeral Liturgy will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at 10:30am. Burial will be in the Congregation cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, Michigan, 49221.

I remember Sr John Maureen as being very energetic and surely didn't realize she was so highly educated.
