Girl with the Ukelele
By TVD
Daily Illini, 12 Dec 1925, p.5

Girl with the ukelele,
Do you carry it just to strum,
Just to while away a moment gay,
     Fantastic tunes to hum?

Girl with the ukelele,
Do you ever think as you play,
In the koa wood, there is much that should
     Never see the garish day?

Girl with the ukelele,
     There's a beach where I've often strayed,
'Neath a tropic moon by a deep lagoon,
Where the age old songs are played.

Girl with the ukelele,
From these modern tunes I flee,
So play tonight while the moon is bright,
     An island song for me.
