Girl with Eyes of Jade
By TVD
Daily Illini, 1 Jan 1926

Bring me dreams of lands I've travelled,
Bring me dreams of the trails I've strayed,
Bring me dreams of the world behind me,
Oh, Girl! with the eyes of jade -

Sing me songs of the hills of ambre,
Sing me songs of road and glade,
Sing me songs of life and color,
Oh, Girl! with the eyes of jade -

My heart I gave to your keeping,
My honor before you I laid,
I have given you all for your idle whim,
Oh, Girl! with the eyes of jade -

Let the smile in your voice appease me,
For the loss of my friends betrayed,
For you! I've forsaken the Open Road,
Oh, Girl! with the eyes of jade -
