To a Bashful Young Lady
University of Chicago Daily Maroon, 23 Nov 1828
By L'Envoi

I, (your lowly servant) am
A follower of Mr. Lamb,
My humble aim is to complete
His essay on cremated meat,
And formulate a moral view
For bashful youngsters such as you.

As far as Lamb's own tale's concerned,
The house (with pig intact) was burned
The fellow touched the roasted hide
And promptly had his finger fried,
And brought it to his tongue to ease
The Burn, and then the fool Chinese
(Oh such is culinary fate)
Began to strongly salivate,
And taking to its flavor, He
Devoured its entirety.
