DECEMBER 11-15, 1862.--Battle of Fredericksburg, Va.
No. 178.--Report of Col. T. B. W. Stockton, Sixteenth Michigan Infantry, commanding Third Brigade
Before closing, I beg leave to mention the name of Capt. L. Lansing, my acting assistant adjutant-general, for the prompt and fearless manner he performed his arduous duty, very frequently much exposed, in carrying my orders to different points;

O.R.-- SERIES I--VOLUME XXXVIII/2 [S# 73]
MAY 1-SEPTEMBER 8, 1864.--The Atlanta (Georgia) Campaign
No. 317.--Reports of Capt. Samuel L. Demarest, Twenty-fifth Michigan Infantry, of operations May 6-August 12.
We remained in this position until after dark under all the deafening cannonading of that terrible afternoon.
The brigade was then quietly withdrawn and sent to the rear for the night.
This regiment suffered severely in this charge, losing 9 killed and 36 wounded, and going
into the fight with 255 men and officers. Adjutant Prutzman was killed and Captains Lansing and McCreary slightly wounded in the early part of the charge. It is with pleasure and pride that I have to report that the officers and men of this regiment behaved like veterans--each vying with the other in deeds of valor and courage.
