Denver Post, July 20, 1906

Wife of Well Known Newspaper Man Thrown by Fractious Horse at Buena Vista

(Special to The Post.)

Canon City, Colo., July 20. - Mrs. Catherine Bell, owner and editor of the Canon City canon, published at Canon City, was thrown by a fractious horse while out riding near Buena Vista this morning, and seriously, if not fatally, injured. She struck on her head and shoulder, causing concussion of the brain. She was picked up unconscious. Dr. W. T. Little, the family physician, was summoned by telephone from Canon City and left on the next train to render medical assistance.

Mrs. Bell is the wife of "Jack" Bell, the well-known newspaper man and correspondent, who is now mining in the southern Nevada gold fields. He is many miles from a railroad and it will be some time before a message telling of his wife's accident can reach him.
