Of the Steep Rocks on Hudson's River.

THIS remarkable range of rocks begins within a mile of Powles Hook, and extends north upwards of 20 miles, being as far as the state of New-Jersey is bounded by Hudson's River. The summits of the loftiest projections are perhaps not less than 600 feet above the river, and a great part of that distance perpendicular.

The surprising height, and regular mural appearance of this stupendous mass, excites admiration in the most superficial stranger; and is not beheld without emotion by those who are the most accustomed to their appearance.

Living on the river and traveling often for his work as a surveyor, Henry had many opportunities to observe the tall cliffs, yet he still saw their beauty.
