There are only a few more days to wait before the arrival of Wild West day in Reno. The date, Wednesday, August 27, has undoubtedly been firmly
fixed in the public mind by the comprehensive preliminary announcement of the Oklahoma Ranch Wild West show, and a gala occasion is
confidently anticipated.
One of the many characteristics of this big border exhibition which is said to give its distinct individuality to the novelty and
variety of the performance. Although it is declared to be a genuine wild west exhibition in every sense of the word, the management
has not hesitated to throw in some extra features for good measure, even though they are not just the kind of an atraction that a dare-devil
cowboy would offer.
No less thrilling, however, according to preliminary accounts, are the feats of the cowboys and the no less intrepid cowgirls.
From a drove of nearly 50 wild horses these daring riders daily select a score of the most unintractable and ride them, bucking
and plunging, down the arena. The riding of these outlaw horses furnishes exciting and often dangerous sport.
The Indians also perform many clever stunts on ponies, and their picturesque representations of old-time border
warfare has a realism that will not be posible a generation or two in the future.
There is some remarkable shooting by rifle experts promised, and the great Mulhalls, Col. Zack, Lucille and Georgia, may be counted upon
to add to the thrills of the performance by their cleverness as ropers, riders and all-round crack shots.
