FOUR CITIES TO HAVE WILD WEST
,font size=4>Butte, Helena, Great Falls and Billings Get "Passing of West"

Billings Gazette - 17 Mar 1916

Billings, Butte, Helena and Great Falls will each have a "Passing of the West" celebration this year, according to an announcement made last night by Charles L. Harris, who so successfully conducted last year's event and who is planning the entertainments in the four Montana cities.

Mr. Harris has just returned from a trip on which arrangements were completed for the various programs. The troup which will take part in the celebration will be assembled in Billings and with the needed animals, equipment, etc., will leave for Butte so as to open in the copper camp July 1 for a five days' show. July 6 will be used to transport the show to Helena, where the program will be held July 7 and 8. Great Falls gets the "wild westers" July 10, 11 and 12, and the final celebration will be in Billings July 13, 14 and 15.

Some of the most famous wild west performers in the country have already been booked for this year's attractions. Among them are Sam Garrett, who won the championship cowboy belt last year; Ed Linkdsey, champion bulldogger, his wife a champion fancy rider; Fanny Steele, the noted rider; Harry Walters, who won the chempionship belt at Cheyenne last year, and Lucille Mulhall, champion lady steer roper of the world.

"The 'Passing of the West' celebration this year will eclipse anything of the kind ever held in the west." declared Manager C. L. Harris last night. The artists we have signed contracts with guarantee the very best possible wild west performance. By holding it in four cities we are able to give the talent a longer engagement and better pay, and so can get the best in the world in competition with everyone."
