Apologia
Daily Maroon - Oct 6, 1928

Oh listen my children and you shall hear
Why the Tiger so blind is a blind tigeer!
(The rhyme is evident 'n also hot
Don't look for mistakes when they is not)
The meter is bad and the Rhet is worse
F'r all of that it's a damned fine verse.
(we continue unharmed)
'Twas back in the winter of 22
Th' Tiger wuz tired and the Tiger wuz blue
Tired of furbishing every day
The same old stripes in th' same old way
But he met a lady whose name wuz Pearl
A jade eyed jewel with her tail in a curl...
He sidles up and sez "Lessen Kid!
Wuz you auctioned off, y'know what I'd bid?
Juniper and oranges every day
N' a nice dry cave furnished mail order way!"
She sez -- "Fella! Didja mention a wedding ring?"
"Nossir!" sez he, "Never heard of the thing."
The Pearl leans back n' she gives a cry
'N she socks a claw in the Tiger's eye!

MORAL
"Wear eye-shields.....!"
