Simulation of Computer Applications

Designed for the BBN Speech and Language Processing Department, the Broadcast Speech Transcriber (AVI 877 KB, MOV 870 KB) is a video simulation which shows what a transcription and analysis program might look like as it analyzes a broadcast news program. The simulation shows the identification of the broadcast language, identification of speakers as they change, and identification of subject topics. After the speech has been transcribed, simulated analysis identifies categories such as proper names of people and places, and topic synonyms.
